On 9th December we welcomed many families into our school to participate in a friendly reindeer Drive. The competition was fierce!
Everyone agreed that it was a great event and we are keen to do similar later in the year. Perhaps we could have an Easter Chick Drive.
School Christmas Show – December 2022
On 19th December we visited Caladh Sona and did some Christmas crafts with the residents. We also sang them the songs from our show.
Talmine Litter Pick – December 2022
Tongue Litter Pick – November 2022
On 11th November we all walked to the war memorial to pay our respects to those who fought in the wars for our freedom. We were joined by Stuart Mingham who also said a prayer for us where we hope for an end to all war.
Tongue Primary School recently received recognition for ‘going the extra mile serving their community’. We were all delighted to have been nominated.
Some of our pupils managed to go along to the event in Strathy Hall on 10th November, despite the awful weather. The evening was one of glitz and glamour and our fabulous pupils were very happy with their certificates.
Across October and November 2022 the whole school received badges for completing the London Marathon through the daily mile. We each ran 26 miles over 26 days. Well done to Magnus who received a medal for trying the hardest.
On 28th October we went on a trip to Durness. We got to spend some time in the craft village creating ghost themed pottery and then we got a tour of a haunted house.
We were very sad to say ‘goodbye’ to Mrs Stokes, our P5-7 teacher on 23rd September 2022. We held a little party in the canteen where we ate lovely cakes and drank juice! Mrs Stokes was presented with a beautiful handmade necklace, created by our very own Konstantina, and gift vouchers.
All three classes participated in this party and we were delighted to welcome so many parents to the event.
Pupils, families and staff all contributed their thoughts to a memory book, which brought a tear to many eyes!
Mrs Stokes is away to begin a very exciting new venture and we wish her all the luck in the world.
We will miss you Mrs Stokes!
September 2022 – we got our ecoflag renewed.
On 2nd September Tony the storyteller and his horse Cheif came to see us and tell us Kelpie Stories. We are so inspired that we are now going to write our own for Tony.
On 30th August we were delighted to get a visit from the coastguard. We got to try out all the equipment and even put on the siren.
